We had a magical week this August on Sir Richard Branson’s Island, Necker Island, for the inaugural NeckerVerse summit! NeckerVerse 2022 was the first NFT/DAO/Web3 infrastructure conference held on the island, presented by Bill Tai’s own 501c3 ACTAI Global, Extreme Tech Challenge, and the Bitfury Group. It was 5 days of sun, sand and serious innovation and inspiration. Read on for our favorite moments!
As an exclusive invite-only conference, NeckerVerse 2022 offered a slew of speakers and panels. Curated by OCM co-founders Bill Tai and Amanda Terry, there were plenty of opportunities to share the OCM story with NFT collectors and our existing Metagood investors. Among the stellar collection of talks, Amanda spoke on panels with Gabby Dizon, co-founder of Yield Guild, about our DAO & Social Impact which kicked off a discussion around some cross-community collab opportunities.
Amanda also moderated a panel with Jaime Leverton, CEO of Bitcoin mining company, Hut 8 Corp, about revolutionizing data centers for Web3. Hut 8 plans to work with some of our DAO projects!
Plus, we partnered with Hut 8 to create a super special NFT for all Neckerverse attendees based on the set of Karma monkeys Hut 8 purchased to join the OCM DAO. We really wanted to share the monkey love and creating something unique for this event was awesome. You can view them up on OpenSea now!
You know if we’re involved, there’s gonna be some monkeying around. Incredible panels aside, we had some fun with professional kite surfer, Nick Jacobson, who jumped from the top of Necker in an OCM t-shirt (!RISE) and safely landed in the turquoise waters below.
We recorded a pre and post-jump chat with Nick, Sir Richard Branson, and Bill Tai which will be edited into an epic short clip and created into an NFT. NFT proceeds will benefit ocean conservation 501c3, Ocean Elders, of which Sir Richard is a member, founded by Gigi Brisson.
There’s so much more in store and we can’t wait to share this super exciting progress. We’re feeling like the energizer bunny, er, monkey, after a great week. We can’t wait to do it again!
